Brendan's Nursery
I worked on Brendan's nursery over the weekend. Lou and I built the dresser together and I hung things on the walls including the animal sticker decals that I absolutely adore. It was one of the only decorative items I bought myself. I thought the lion would be my favorite, but it is actually the monkey- Lou's favorite too. My mom made the letters for his name over the crib and around the closet for him. I really am pleased with how everything has come together and I think he will like it as he grows into it. I am going to hang 2 more shelves but other than that I think it is all set. I enjoy being in there and have gone in and sat on the comfy rocker a few times just because.

Dialation Station
Today Brendan and I went in for our 36 week check-up and found out that I am dialated two centimeters. I was absolutely shocked to hear Dr. Hunt say that. I will be full-term on Friday and everything appears to be healthy. His heart rate was in the 150's and I have gained 24 lbs to date.
I was told I could deliver in an hour or in a few weeks but my body was getting ready. I hope it is in a few weeks. I would like to finish the school year (May 28) and would like a week to relax before he comes. We all know he's gonna come when he's ready whether I am or not. If he comes between May 27 and June 7, then another doctor will deliver him- a Dr. Eric Royce. My doctor is finally taking her honeymoon in the mountains.
I was joking with Lou yesterday that I am good at this whole pregnancy thing. I read and hear from others about how miserable they were during pregnancy and yet everything has been just peachy for me. Most of the symptoms I had early in the pregnancy like hair loss, gas, and acne on my back went away. I haven't been swollen, haven't lost any sleep, haven't had crazy mood swings, morning sickness, or spotting. I pee a lot and my breasts leak a little but I'm used to it now. My body is sore and it is getting tough to bend down and get up from sitting or lying, but I would think that happens when you gain a ton of weight in mostly one place. I actually really like being pregnant. Especially how nice people are and all the attention they give pregnant women.
So we are in bed last night and I told Lou how sore my pelvic region has been lately and how I had been trying to use stretching to help ease the muscle pain and soreness. He was not taking me seriously and mocking me. I calmly told him, "I'm going to sprain your nut sack and see how you like it." We were laughing uncontrollably for a good 15 minutes.
Over the last weekend Lou was an outstanding husband. We went on dates and enjoyed each other's company. We went to dinner Friday night and watched movies at home, layed by the pool Saturday and then went to the movie theater to see Angels and Demons. On Sunday I worked on the nursery and in the guest room/office and Lou helped me clean the house. He went grocery shopping and brought me flowers too. What a sweetie! I started to nest and made four frozen meals for post-baby, and vacuumed the walls in my bedroom. Yes- the walls!

Mother's Day Maternity Photo Shoot
For my first Mother's Day I hired a photographer to take some photos of my big belly. I really wanted to capture the beauty of being pregnant and remember it- wrinkle free and before gravity takes hold of my figure. I still am amazed when I look at my own body. It is beautiful pregnant. My self perception still has not changed and I still feel like I am the same size as before I was pregnant. It is incredible for me to see how we've grown!
Leslie the photographer did a great job on her second ever maternity photo shoot and we even got Brendan's daddy in some of the photos. I could not be happier with the results! I especially love the black and white pictures! We will be calling her back to take photos of Brendan when he comes. These shots were taken at 35 weeks pregnant for a Mother's Day to remember!

What was I saying again?
We made it to 34 weeks! Saw Dr. Hunt today for a check-up and everything looks normal. I found out she will be out of the office for almost two weeks at the end of May and first week in June. That means Brendan better wait until the week of his due date to be born! I really like and trust Dr. Hunt. I will be upset if I have to be out of my comfort zone with a stranger for his birth. I am already somewhat upset just thinking about it. There is nothing I can do so I'm not getting too worked up, but I'm not happy.
The pregnancy brain is in full effect. I feel like a complete idiot half of the time. I forget what I am doing and saying to people (including my class) right in the middle of a thought. I have been making stupid mistakes and just feel like an airhead lately. It really is rough. The other morning I could not remember for the life of me if I rinsed out the conditioner in the shower. I didn't. I figured it out after my hair dried. The texture just wasn't right. When Lou comes home and before we go to bed at night we always share a kiss. I haven't been able to remember if I kissed him or not- even if it was just 30 seconds ago. I took a client out to look at homes over the weekend and got lost in mid thought. It really is remarkable.
Today I purchased a dozen more cloth diapers for Brendan for a grand total of 14 diapers. We need two to three dozen diapers to be able to successfully cloth diaper him. They are too cute! I love the colors and the simplicity of them. They are called all in one pocket diapers and I purchased the one size kind so they can grow with him. I thought it would be the most cost effective. He should be able to use them until he reaches 35-40 lbs. I also picked up a diaper sprayer and a special detergent. The diapers require little detergent and don't need to be rinsed until baby starts eating solids.
Tomorrow I will be attending our last shower, hosted by my co-workers. I am looking forward to it. We still have some things we need to get before he comes. I made a list last night and will be price shopping between Target and Babies R Us to get the best deals. I am going to get his car seat properly installed in his new car by a Phoenix Police officer on Wed. Things are all coming together for us as we get ready these last few weeks. It is crunch time people!
